What is it about flowers that we find so uplifting? Their colors? Their scent? Their appearance? Is it their gentleness? The unassuming way they appear, flourish then quietly depart? Humble. Their presence lights up the landscape.

What is it about weeds that we struggle to find beauty in? Are they that dissimilar from the flowers? Yet the gentleness is missing. There is an obtrusiveness. A persistence. An uninvited presence. They all too often smother their other, less aggressive neighbors, taking over areas which were once home to the softness and innocence of flowers. Unrelenting in their selfishness. Harmony is absent.

What is it about humanity? We could choose to live and let live in the natural environment but often we choose to impose our ugly, selfish mark on the landscape. Weeds or flowers? Who do you choose to be?
